Melasma

Melasma is an irregularity in skin pigmentation which can be caused by a variety of genetic and environmental factors. Melasma is thought to be largely hormonally influenced but is generally not successfully treated with hormones alone. Age spots and sun spots are thought to be caused by cumulative sun exposure (most wrinkles and pigment problems we see at age 40 are attributable to sun our bodies have seen before the age of 8). Melasma can be characterized by a localized dark spot in otherwise normally appearing skin, a light spot, or a light spot surrounded by pigment.

Melasma can be treated with the following procedures: Microdermabrasion, Chemical Peel, Profractional, South Beach Peel, Micro Laser Peel. Schedule a consultation today to learn more.
