Facial Fillers

Lines and furrows in the face can be a large concern. As people age, the regeneration of collagen and other proteins that keep the face smooth are diminished. Facial fillers are designed to replace these proteins with either natural or synthetic compounds, which "buff out" wrinkles and lines. The Face Institute administers three brands of facial fillers, comprising two different classes.

The first class of facial fillers offered by The Face Institute include Restylane, Juvederm, and Prevelle (Clicking on these names will take you to the brand website). These facial fillers consist primarily of Hyaluronic Acid, a naturally occuring substance which plays a role in facial elasticity. All these products are safe, and effective at filling wrinkles and lines. Over time, effects of the treatment diminish as the body absorbs the hyaluronic acid, usually lasting 3 or more months.

The second class of facial fillers offered by The Face Institute includes Radiesse (Clicking on the name will take you to the brand website). Radiesse injections include both hyaluronic acid and calcium hydroxylapatite. Hydroxylapatite is, like hyaluronic acid, a naturally occuring substance found in bones and other areas of the body. Most hydroxylapatite contained in Radiesse is harvested from atlantic coast coral. Hydroxylapatite allows Radiesse to last much longer than other facial fillers, up to a year and more.

All of these treatments take around 10 minutes to complete and provide immediate results. Some swelling may occur and usually diminishes after 2 to 3 days. Your surgeon can discuss details and answer any questions you might have about these procedures and help you to decide which one is right for you. Schedule a consultation today.
